Kuala Lumpur, a bustling metropolis where cultures from all around the world mingle and interact, the crown jewel of Malaysia, some even call it the New York of Asia. A lot of people know Kuala Lumpur for its twin towers which is deemed as the tallest twin towers in the world, the commercial district of Bukit Bintang, Pasar Seni and much more. These places are quite known for multiple reasons and you probably have already ventured these places.

Unfortunately for you I’m not here to talk about those places that have thousands of tourists visiting every year, instead I’m here to talk the hidden gems of KL. These so-called hidden gems are one of a kind and are scattered all around KL. Places so unique that surprisingly most people don’t know about it. But that’s what makes it special. One of a kind, a needle in a haystack, a space of retreat amongst a bustling metropolis, the type of place only your long-lost grandfather would probably know.

No more rotting in your bed thinking of what to do, no more failed plans with your friends, no more “the outside is blah blah blah” excuses, cause fortunately for you I will be visiting all these gems to tell you about experiences of a lifetime. Remember when all those people you killed in games telling you to touch grass and take a shower (if you play games that is) well it’s time to open those ears and do exactly that. Time to go outside cause these places are worth it, even if it’s not I can confidently say that the journey will be an adventure.

1. KL Forest Eco Park

Its dense greenery and well-maintained trails offer a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle. The park’s highlight is its Canopy Walkway, a series of hanging bridges that provide panoramic views of both the forest and Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.

These green getaways prove that Kuala Lumpur isn’t just about malls and skyscrapers. It’s a city that blends urban life with hidden pockets of nature. Hidden gems worth exploring for indeed.

In line with this, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has embraced sustainability through initiatives like the Kuala Lumpur Climate Action Plan 2050, aiming for carbon neutrality by enhancing green spaces, expanding public transport, and integrating smart technologies. Efforts such as planting over 200,000 trees and promoting eco-friendly mobility reflect the city’s commitment to becoming a “city in a garden.” So, when life gets too overwhelming, swap the game controller for binoculars and experience these unique outdoor gems, you might just find that touching grass isn’t so bad after all.
